A contracting and expanding exercise that counteracts overwhelm.
While standing up, inhale while arching the back and folding the arms in front of you. Exhale with an audible sigh while coming up, expanding the arms, pushing the chest forward, and leaning the head back.
The Butterfly exercise stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system, which counters stress and induces feelings of balance. The rhythmic contraction and expansion of this exercise helps to break the cycle of overwhelming thoughts.
Keep your feet are hip-width apart for stability.
Notice the air moving with your arms, contracting and expanding with each breath.
