Release stress from the body by tensing and releasing each muscle.

Exercise Instructions

Lay down and close your eyes. Inhale for a 5-count, then tense a muscle group for a 5-count, then release and exhale on a 5 count. Repeat this as you moving methodically from your toes to your head.

How This Somatic Exercise Works

When we tense and then relax our muscles, we activate the relaxation response of our nervous system. This process lowers the body's stress hormones, leading to a calmer state of being.

Tips For This Exercise

Start at your toes, gradually working your way up to your head, paying attention to each muscle group.

Remember to focus on the sensation of tension and then relaxation in each muscle group.
